About Foldwords
Understand AlphaFold, one concept at a time.
A companion, not a prediction service.
Foldwords connects technical vocabulary to plain-language nicknames, memory hooks and practice. It helps learners interpret protein predictions; it does not run AlphaFold or establish scientific certainty.
Foldwords is an independent educational resource, not an official AlphaFold, Google DeepMind or EMBL-EBI product.

- Foldwords explanations
- Curated glossary definitions, nicknames and memory hooks are teaching aids. Each glossary entry links to references; instructors should review them against course materials.
- AlphaFold Database data
- Live accession lookups retrieve existing predictions, metadata and confidence from the official EMBL-EBI AlphaFold Protein Structure Database. Name searches open its official website.
- AI tutor responses
- Generated explanations use glossary context but can contain errors. Verify claims using the linked sources, especially conclusions about function or leaf traits.

The Monstera illustration is generated, not a research specimen. Its pathway distinguishes observations from hypotheses; no specific causal fenestration gene is established here.
Learning without an account
The glossary, guided demo and practice activities are public. Guest learning state is session-only. Uploaded model files stay in the browser tab and are not stored in Cloud. Signing in enables saved scores, study-plan checkmarks and tutor history; authorized teachers can review those records.
